Use it free running or latch it any length you want. Then gently let the hose rewind itself - wet or dry - with no kinks or mess. The Retracta swivels in the direction you are working in and folds flat against the wall when not in use. Padlock it and leave it out in all weathers - or simply remove the bracket and pin and store it safely in the shed.
These hose reels from Redashe are not to be confused with low-quality cheaper models available elsewhere - these really are excellent and will give many years of service.
