* What are the best types of wood for splitting?
Dry, seasoned wood is the best type of wood for splitting. Wet or non-seasoned wood can be much more dificult to split because the fibres split together (and also less effective when burning too). Logs with large or multiple knots are also more difficult to split (using ANY method of splitting). Rotating the log so that knots are perpendicular to the knot will put less stress on the machine and allow the log to be split more easily. |
