About Stihl
Founded in 1926 by Andreas Stihl, STIHL has grown from a pioneering one-man operation into a global, family-owned business and one of the world’s leading manufacturers of power tools. The company began with the invention of the portable chainsaw, which transformed forestry work, and has since expanded its range to provide tools for professional users, gardeners and anyone working in and with nature. Today, STIHL employs more than 20,000 people worldwide and continues to place strong emphasis on innovation, research and development.
STIHL is committed to developing high-quality, practical tools through continual innovation and significant investment in technology. The company holds around 2,500 patents and manufactures the majority of its parts and products in-house, helping maintain its high standards of quality. Battery technology is a key area of development, alongside a focus on creating products that are easier to maintain and repair, supported by STIHL’s extensive network of Approved Dealers and long-term availability of genuine spare parts.
STIHL Great Britain was established in 1978 as a wholly owned subsidiary of the global STIHL Group. Its modern headquarters and distribution facility in Camberley, Surrey, opened in 2023 and is home to more than 100 employees. Across Great Britain, STIHL products are supported by a network of more than 700 specialist Approved Dealers, providing customers with expert advice and after-sales support. Through its combination of heritage, innovation and a commitment to quality, STIHL continues to develop tools designed to make working in and with nature easier.
