WEEE Policy

WEEE & Battery Recycling Policy

The Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Regulations are UK law. These regulations aim to reduce the environmental impact of electrical and electronic waste by encouraging reuse, recycling and responsible disposal.

Under the WEEE Regulations, producers are required to fund the collection, treatment, recycling and recovery of waste electrical equipment. Retailers, including online retailers, must also provide customers with a free take-back option for equivalent waste equipment.

Mower Magic Limited is committed to complying with all applicable WEEE and battery regulations and supporting customers in disposing of waste responsibly.

Our WEEE Take-Back Scheme

If you buy a new electrical product from Mower Magic, we will accept your old like-for-like electrical product free of charge for environmentally responsible disposal.

How it works:

  • Purchase a new electrical item from us
  • Return your old, equivalent electrical item to us
  • We will arrange appropriate recycling or disposal
  • This service is free of charge

Important notes:

  • The take-back scheme applies to like-for-like products only
  • For example, buy an electric lawnmower and return an electric lawnmower
  • Customers are responsible for getting the old item to us

The Crossed-Out Wheeled Bin Symbol

Equipment manufactured after 13 August 2005

Electrical and electronic equipment produced after this date will display the crossed-out wheeled bin symbol with a bar underneath.

This symbol indicates:

  • The product must not be disposed of with normal household waste
  • The product should be taken to an appropriate recycling facility

Equipment manufactured before 13 August 2005

Some older equipment may display a similar crossed-out wheeled bin symbol without a bar underneath.

This symbol was used before the current WEEE marking requirement and may reappear on certain products to support the Battery Regulations.

In both cases, the symbol means the product should be recycled responsibly.

Battery Recycling

Portable Battery Take-Back Scheme

Under the Waste Battery Regulations, Mower Magic Limited offers a free take-back scheme for portable waste batteries.

How to recycle batteries:

  • Bring your used portable batteries to us during normal office hours
  • Please do not post batteries to us
  • Batteries will be recycled safely and responsibly

Alternatively, you can find a local battery recycling point via the Recycle Now website.

Most supermarkets and retailers that sell batteries provide collection bins, and additional facilities may be available in libraries, schools and local authority buildings.

Recycling Electrical Waste Responsibly

Electrical products should never be disposed of with normal household waste.

You can recycle unwanted electrical equipment:

  • At designated electrical waste recycling centres
  • Free of charge

To find your nearest facility:

  • Visit Recycle-More and enter your postcode in the Bank Locator, or
  • Check your local authority's website for details of WEEE recycling centres.

Our Commitment

Recycling electrical equipment and batteries:

  • Reduces landfill waste
  • Conserves natural resources
  • Minimises environmental harm
  • Protects the planet for future generations

Mower Magic is proud to support responsible recycling and sustainable practices.
